Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show some extra love to our furry friends.
Spoiling your pooch with our easy valentine’s day recipes for dogs is not only a fun way to celebrate, but it also ensures they’re getting healthy, wholesome snacks.
Frozen Fruity Hearts
Ingredients:
1 cup plain Greek yogurt or Kefir
1/2 cup chopped strawberries (or you could use blue berries or kiwi fruit)
Instructions:
Combine the Greek yogurt and chopped strawberries in a bowl.
Spoon the mixture into silicone heart-shaped molds or ice cube trays, fill three-quarters full.
Give the molds a little shake and a gentle tap to remove any air bubbles and smooth out the mixture.
Place the molds in the freezer and let them freeze for at least 3-4 hours or until set.
Once frozen, remove the treats from the molds and store them in an airtight container in the freezer until ready to serve.
Carob dipped Strawberries
Ingredients:
120g carob chips
2 tbsp of canola oil
Strawberries, discard stem
Optional: Bee Pollen to sprinkle on top
Instructions:
Place carob chips and canola in a microware safe bowl, .
Put in microwave and heat until carob chips have melted (approx. 1 min).
Prepare a tray lined with baking paper.
Dip strawberries into melted carob, let excess drip and place onto baking tray.
Place in the refrigerator until set, then they are ready for your pooch to enjoy.
Love heart beetroot dog cookies
Ingredients
2 1/2 Cups of Rice Flour
1 Egg
1 cup cooked beetroot mash (boil until soft)
1/2 cup sweet potato mash (boil until soft)
1/2 Cup water
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 180°C
Mix all ingredients together to form a dough.
Once the dough no longer sticks to your hands, it’s ready to roll. (Add more flour if too sticky)
Lightly flour your surface, and roll out the dough to about 5mm thickness.
Cut into hearts with a heart shaped cookie cutter
Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 40 minutes.
Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
Cookies should have a bit of a crunch to them when they are cooled.
*Optional: melt some yogurt or carob drops and drizzle over cookies for decoration.
